The specific purpose of the organization is to teach tennis as a lifetime recreational and educational sport. The tennis classes held year round will be available to young adults and children regardless of financial status. Our belief is that all students should have the privilege to learn lessons from professional tennis instructors. Kay Butler, the founder of Grassroots Junior Tennis has drawn on her many years of competitive and professional experience to coach successfully junior tennis players of varying ages.  Kay is a teaching pro at the Palm Springs Tennis Club.

Grassroots Junior Tennis system is to strengthen every aspect of your child’s game: simplify their strokes to make them more reliable, consistent, and forceful through drills, coaching strategy, and competitive play.

Grassroots Junior Tennis offers stroke analysis, stroke production, drills, match play strategy, and sports science. These training methods have produced junior tennis champions in the U.S. and abroad. Kay Butler’s passion for the game elevates her junior players to become enthusiastic students. She advocates that the sport of tennis can become a great companion for life. Her students will improve his or her game as well as having a lot of fun. She will also address fitness and training, with a focus on concentration as well as relaxation.  Her goal is to bring every junior player in the program towards an appreciation of the sport focusing on the importance of cooperation and fitness in life.

Classes practice on tennis courts that are donated to the organization. The lessons are 60 minutes in length, three days per week for four months, twice a year.  Additionally, non-stress tournaments are held periodically to reinforce tennis skills, etiquette of the game and social interaction.
